Identical Twin

Question

This is silly...

OK, Mr. Studlyhunk... here's my question:

How can I find a girlfriend for my husband's identical twin? He is a 26 year old Russian. He's tall dark and handsome, but painfully shy... I have introduced him to all of my friends and he is not interested in any of them. He is somewhat of an introvert... he doesn't like to go out into the social scene. Instead he'd rather hang out with me and my husband at our house. We have only been married a year and it is getting a little bit old, if you know what I mean. I signed him up for a dating service a few months ago and managed to get him to go out on one date, but it was a disaster and he swore never again! So I don't know what else to do!!!

Any advice?

Thanks!
Julia

Response

Dear Julia,

Since your brother-in-law is so shy, you will have to put in a little extra effort to encourage him to move along in the world of dating. Perhaps you could arrange for a double date with one of your girlfriends? That way, your brother-in-law will be on a date with a lady, but will be able to relax because you and your husband will be along, which will make him feel more comfortable.

If he has any hobbies, encourage him to join a class or a group of people with similar interests. You could even suprise him with a free membership to one of these groups. Not only would this sort of environment force him to interact with people and make new friends, but who knows? Maybe he would also meet the girl of his dreams!

And tell him that he should really give the dating service another try. He can't expect the first girl he goes out with to be The One! Dating takes work!

One more thing. It sounds like you are making it too easy for him to take advantage of you and your husband. You need to lay down some rules. Choose certain nights to set aside for just the two of you. Say, Tuesdays and Fridays for example. Let him know that those are your "date nights," and that he is not invited. Maybe he will take the hint and realize that he needs a girl of his own.

If it makes you feel any better, I too am a tall, dark, and handsome man. I even have a little bit of Russian in me! And I have no troubles at all with the ladies. Being shy is a relatively small obstacle. I'm sure with a little work, your brother-in-law will be able to overcome his shyness and find his Mrs. Right!

Good Luck!

Mr. Studlyhunk
